Camp Dates

Session 1: Start, Turn, Strength & Sprint Camp
3 Full Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
JUNE 13 - 15, 2019

Session 2: June 16 - 20, 2019

at Fork Union Military Academy

Dear Swimmer:

We will provide a minimum of 7.5 hours of swimming related activites Monday through Thursday to include swim training; video taping with my immediate analysis and review; dryland exercises; stroke lectures and start/turn work. So, join us for an exceptional and exciting swim experience at the Virginia Swim Camp hosted by Coach Mark Bernardino at the historic FORK UNION MILITARY ACADEMY, in FORK UNION, VA.

The coaches of the Virginia Swim Camp will continue to provide the most innovative and contemporary swimming experience possible. Session enrollment will be limited to ensure quality instruction with small coach-to-swimmer ratios.

Our staff is truly unique in its qualification and commitment to young men and women. Our coaches are proven professionals, each of whom possess the ability to teach, to demonstrate, and to positively motivate swimmers of all ages. While each staff member brings skills unique to his or her personality, all eagerly look forward to teaching, educating, and guiding the swimmer in his or her development as a person and athlete. Any success experienced by a swimmer is a very special moment for our staff.

During each week of camp, a pronounced emphasis will be placed on stroke, start and turn techniques, and mechanics. Daily video sessions with immediate playback will serve as an invaluable aid in diagnosing and dissecting each stroke. Further, an explanation of the scientific principles involved with swimming, strength training, nutrition, and physiology will be offered in seminar discussions. We will try to leave no stone unturned. We want to offer the best, most complete and comprehensive swimming experience available anywhere.

SESSION #1 has been a huge success these past three years and presents a UNIQUE opportunity for swim campers to focus on the nuances of STARTS, TURNS AND SPRINTING. This year, we will add a small component of strength training to the camp. We will dedicate three full days to teaching start and turn techniques in each of the four competitive strokes as well as Individual Medley transition turn skills. Additionally, we will set aside a minimum of one hour each morning and each afternoon for sprint training. We will enroll a MAXIMUM of 45 swimmers in this session to insure the highest quality of teaching. All athletes will be video-taped doing starts and turns everyday.

Our camp includes among its graduates five Olympic Gold Medal winners including 2012 Olympians, Matt McLean and Charlie Houchin. Additionally, multiple NCAA champions, numerous NCAA and High School All-Americans, and several world record holders have attended the Virginia Swim Camp. We hope to again enjoy the pleasure of special visits with former Olympians or USA National Team members.

Don't miss out on this great experience. Expand the limits of your abilities, have lots of fun, and enjoy making new friends. Remember, sessions fill to capacity, so please submit your applications and payment as soon as possible. Wishing you fast swims!
